These people were using a taxi for every journey. Yes, they are expensive, and slow if the traffic is bad.
Use the bus, or the underground, get a pass, or walk!

Most Londoners who travel use the underground, or a bus. London is an expensive city, of course, but an Oyster Card can be decent value.
Tubes are a quick way of getting around, are reasonably reliable, but things happen, and pretty safe. And often very frequent. You can see the world from a bus. Anywhere a tourist might want to go will be accessible by bus or tube.
We keep our watches on USA time and it’s confusing.
