Americans!

Londoners are rude.

Ah, a common complaint.

I’ve been to America many times. I have lived there a bit. You get accosted while you are just sitting waiting for a bus.

What’s your name, where are you from, what do you do, what’s your salary, married, any kids, sexual preferences, ever had liver and onions, seen XYZ…? and so on, had them all and more.

Asking strangers all these personal questions is not polite, it is the height of rudeness. Mind your own business. I don’t want to know anything about you.

And, on occasion, it ends with smart people carrying bags of shopping asking for money.

We don’t talk to people on the tube. If we’re heading home after eight hours of work, the train is hot and slow and jammed, we’re tired, we don’t want to have random foreigners shouting in our faces that the ‘fake’ Tower of London is a tourist trap and Trump needs to do something about it.

It isn’t fake, and it’s nothing to do with Trump.

Most people in London are not tourists, we are ordinary people working. We may not be Londoners or even English. If you encounter a German (sorry Germany, but had to put something) and they seem rude, they are not representative of London or even the UK.

If someone on the street is lost and asks for help, I help, if I can.
