Question

Should you get a piercing?

There’s an obvious answer to this: “you are an adult (presumably), I can’t advise you, make your own decisions, do whatever you want”.

And that’s fine, it’s common sense but it is boring.

That’s not my answer. Should you get a piercing?

YES, ABSOLUTELY DEFINITELY, FOR SURE.

Here is my reasoning.

There are millions of people in the world, surely the vast majority, who are not into piercings. Reactions like yuk, how could you do that to yourself, not interested… These people would never have a piercing. Those people are not reading these pages. That’s fine.

You are. You must be at least interested in doing it. So do. Give it a try. Imagine, in 60 years time, you are on your death bed, reviewing your life and thinking “I wish I’d had a nose piercing”, and regretting it.

If you are interested in it, you have nothing to lose, give it a go. Give it a chance to heal, don’t say the next day ‘oh, it’s sore, it hurts, I’ve made a mistake, I’ll take it out’. Live with it, give it a chance, then if you don’t like it after some weeks, just take it out and it should heal.

One way or another, you will know. If you love it, fantastic. If you don’t, well, now OK.

One last piece of advice. Don’t go down the line of “I always wanted an X piercing, but I’ll have a Y piercing first just to see”. If there is something you want, go for it.
