Twelve British Songs… VI

…that defined the 60s and are not The Beatles.

The Alan Price Set

Simon Smith and the Amazing Dancing Bear

1967

The Animals have some of the best known songs of the sixties. Lead singer Eric Burdon went to the USA to become famous, bassist Chas Chandler moved into management (Slade, Jimi Hendrix) and keyboardist/singer Alan Price did various things including composing and appearing in films, working with Georgie Fame and having his own hits.

This is one of the best. Price’s voice is distinctive.

The song was written by Randy Newman.
