We do understand that advertising is, well, lying if you like. Certainly, presenting a biased view of something to the world to make you use or buy it. Companies will tell you all the reasons why their product is better than the rivals. It’s cheaper, nicer looking, faster, tastier, less sugar, not made in China, good for the environment whatever. They don’t tell you any bad things, like “drink this and you will get cancer.”
Some of it is blatant misrepresentation. “Less sugar” doesn’t mean no sugar. If a portion of something contained 45g sugar and now contains 42g, that technically is less sugar, but it’s still not good.
Advertising seems to be getting out of hand. Everything has advertising on it. YouTube is unwatchable. There are two or three minutes of adverts before the video begins. You can ‘skip’ it after a time, but that just means it stops and the QR code comes up.
There will be an advert interruption every few minutes. And this is not counting the advertising and promotion done by the presenter of the video, and any on screen logos.
