We Brits are not a curious nation and are not interested in you. We don’t want to know how many guns you have and how many people you have killed with them, or all your cars, or how you found London bigger and more expensive than you expected. We know about the weather, we aren’t quaint, we never met Princess Diana (she was never called that, by the way), we mostly don’t think Boris Johnson is a character (let’s just not go there), Brexit is a thing that we have to deal with that is destroying our country… the list goes on.
If you don’t like sport, and many don’t, you are a social pariah. You have to like a football team, even if you have never seen them and know nothing about any player. Football is an excuse for racist attacks on players and for violence in crowds. When you travel you will regularly hear football chants from big gangs. They are drunk people and dangerous. Don’t engage them in conversation.
When you come to London, or any big city, you are here to have a great time. Assume everyone else is going about their daily lives. As you travel you will meet people and chat to them (eg waiting staff) but this is being pleasant. Mostly, they don’t want to know.
It’s not everyone, of course…
