Taxi

Paying

Pay what it says on the meter, fare and extras.

All cabs these days take card (contactless) payment. Not so many years ago, you had to check with the driver in advance if you wanted to use card, but things seem to have changed, especially since COVID. Asking a driver to stop at an ATM so you can get cash is not a thing any more, but you may have to if your card fails.

Electronic payment should be fine too (eg Apple Pay).

Cash is also usually accepted.

Tipping is discussed elsewhere.

You can get a printed receipt if you ask. We think drivers do prefer electronic payment, as a rule.
