Getting a piercing?

If you want to turn up in some special outfit, or naked, whatever, that’s probably fine. The piercer probably won’t care. But just double check…

Find out how much it costs, and how you can pay. Usually it’s cash, card (perhaps with a small surcharge) or bank transfer, or some combination. Places are less likely to take cash after COVID. Make sure you have enough plus a bit extra (just in case, or for a tip) and an alternative method if possible.

We like places where you are asked to pay in advance. We have seen occasions where customers have had piercing then ‘oh no, sorry, not enough cash/forgotten card/no credit’ etc. This is so unfair and dishonest. Also, you are more likely to go ahead with it if you have already paid.

You can always take a friend, but they may not be allowed in the piercing parlour or in the piercing room. Piercers have work to do and don’t want people getting in the way, though some don’t mind. Ask. Since COVID, places have got a bit more strict. Be aware of their rules and obey them.

Just to add to this, there are many websites for piercers where they specifically say they do not use guns. My piercer does, for example:

    This is a good thing.
