Software

Disclaimer: (or whatever it is). We are reporting this as an item of news. We are taking what we have read and seen on face value. We are not suggesting you should download these things, or rely on them, or break any law. We are writing this because it’s interesting, but we’re taking no responsibility.

When we worked, we used Adobe software, especially Photoshop and InDesign. When we stopped working, we stopped using these products, because we weren’t doing that kind of work any more, because they were too complicated for what we needed and because the subscription pricing was hard to justify. There are simpler products that do the limited things we need at zero cost.

It seems other people feel the same, especially about the pricing.

Now, someone has used AI to, er, clone the seven key Adobe products. These are available on-line and as a free download.

There are several people who have made videos or have written about the products and their implication. Here is just one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTAZtrsU-84

They look interesting, and familiar. There are plainly aspects that work well, and other things that do not, so people are regarding them as an alpha version rather than any way close to a complete product. Yet.

Here’s one (annoying) person giving one of the products a trial: https://youtu.be/eFB79TYI-Vw?si=PeUNo3ICXoGqELxO
