So, what did I find.
After what, 15 years of not using a radio with actual frequencies, it was interesting to see on MW and FM, the usual suspects in the same places. But both bands were pretty busy, with smaller stations in a variety of languages and much religious stuff. We don’t know all the stations but suspect some might be what we used to call ‘pirates’.
Air band did pick up some broadcasts, but they talk so quickly and in shorthand it’s hard to follow.
Night time seems best for short wave. We did pick up a lot of Chinese and also Spanish-speaking channels, but we need to work on the included aerial for better reception.
The set does not have upper or lower sideband, so you can’t get ham radio. That costs more.
But it’s fun, and definitely a nice radio for travel.
