He made an appearance on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show. Carson got magician James Randi to advise, and the effects were set up out of Geller’s control. He failed to do anything significant.
You’d say, well that’s it for Geller, why did he even go on to the show? But his fans would say this: if he succeeded, that was evidence that he has extraordinary powers. that he failed is even stronger evidence that he has these powers – if he was just using magic trickery, he would succeed every time.
Geller cannot lose.
