Liverpool Street

Underground

To get to central London from Liverpool Street there are several choices:

The Central line goes east to Stratford, but west to Holborn, Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Circus, Lancaster Gate, Notting Hill Gate and beyond, all busy hotel areas. It is one of the busiest lines on the system.

There’s also the Circle line, to Charing Cross/Embankment, Victoria, South Kensington and Gloucester Road, also Baker Street and Paddington. The Metropolitan line covers similar places.

The entrance to the tube is hard to miss. It is right in the middle of the station opposite platform 10. On our first photograph, it’s on the left at ground level past the big arch, before the steps and escalator to McDonald’s. Pass through the barriers, and the Circle and Metropolitan are to the left, possibly over a bridge, and the Central right and down escalators.

There are other entrances outside the station, but, if you are coming in by train, you won’t want those.

Elizabeth line

This also runs through Liverpool Street, using the same entrance as the tube but quite a walk.

This will get you to Tottenham Court Road, Bond Street, Paddington, west London and Heathrow.

Also

It’s not a far walk from Liverpool Street to Moorgate. If you look at the first picture, just keep walking in that direction, past the shops, up a small set of steps but still heading the same way and a short walk brings you to Moorgate station. It’s about 5 minutes on Eldon Street and then to the left.

This is great for the Northern line, and also the Thameslink service to Islington (Essex Road) and Finsbury Park and beyond.
