Arriving in London: Luton

Train

Luton is the only London airport not to have a railway station very close.

There is a station, Luton Parkway, but it’s a good distance away. There used to be a free transfer coach, and now there is a light rail solution called Luton DART. This takes about 4 minutes to get to the station from the airport, and access is quite easy.

However, DART is not a free service. At present the cost is about £5, but, if you are travelling to London by train, you can get a through ticket that includes the DART. This is called Luton Airport Express. Tickets are available in advance.

From the Parkway station, services towards London are provided mainly by the Thameslink company, with some trains run by East Midlands Railway (EMR).

EMR takes you directly to St Pancras International. It takes a little over 20 minutes. From St Pancras there are buses, taxis and multiple Underground lines – more on this later.

Thameslink also goes through St Pancras International, and it is a more frequent service than EMR, but it is a stopping service, so takes longer (about 40 minutes). It then passes through London, via Blackfriars and London Bridge, before heading south out of London again, towards Brighton and Gatwick Airport and other places. One of these connections may be good for you:
