A Question of Something

In recent years, Sue Barker was in charge. The rounds started to vary a little and it all became louder and flashier rather than the jolly boys club it had been. Some rounds had to be abandoned, like What Happened Next? The web means that any sporting mishaps are widely available and would be well known.

The BBC decided that Barker plus captains Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson were stale and the show needed a refresh. New, young people were brought in. And that was the beginning of the end.

There were more stupid and gimmicky rounds, standing on maps or captains rowing boats. There was a definite aversion to showing any historic clips (ie more than a few years old). The guests were often the same for two weeks running. And, to be honest, most you would never have heard of.

There was inane banter and sort of ‘interviews’ with the guests, but it was a show losing its appeal.

Will it be missed? Honestly, after the last series, I doubt it. Why can’t we have re-runs of the old programmes? Will it come back? Hope not…
