OK, a question. What is the worst Beatles song?
I know that there are plenty of people who will say “nothing by The Beatles is bad”, but that is not the question. Unless all tracks by the group are exactly as good as each other, something must be not as good. Doesn’t mean it’s bad, just that there are some better than others.
There are also plenty of folk who hate the group. Fine, but I don’t believe there is something you don’t like just a little bit, and there has to be a reason why you hate them. Is it a song?
And let’s just be clear about a few things. We are thinking of original studio tracks recorded and released by the band when they were together in the 1960s.
So, nothing live, no bootlegs, no anthology or alternate versions or rehearsals, no foreign language re-recordings, nothing before Love Me Do, just the original UK singles, albums and EPs. Nor are we including cover versions of Beatles’ songs by other acts, Beatles solo material of the time or the little bits of banter on Let It Be (barely count as tracks).
We are including Magical Mystery Tour (was an EP over here), B sides as well as A sides and the first side of the Yellow Submarine album (the second side is George Martin).
Just one track, and a reason.
You have a few days to think about it.
