Barclay James Harvest

The band continued as a three piece.

Their image and sound changed considerably, the Mellotron was gone and their enormous success brought them huge outdoor concerts, especially in Germany.

All the later albums have things of interest, especially Welcome To The Show (1990), but rarely did they sound like a band any more. Les would do his songs and John would do his, and there seemed to be little collaboration.

The religious aspects of their work, especially from Lees, became more prominent.

At the end of the 1990s there was a major falling out between Holroyd and Lees, and they went their separate ways but both as Barclay James Harvest, Lees with Wolstenholme and Holroyd with Pritchard, both with other musicians.

Both bands did concert tours and produced albums, with mixed success.

Pritchard died in 2004 and Wolstenholme in 2010, but the bands still continue. It’s fair to say that both Lees and Holroyd are not at their best singing-wise any more, but of course they are both in their mid-70s.
