Oscars

It seems to be Oscar season again. Some of my chums make an effort to see every film nominated, but I don’t bother.

I do occasionally look at the listings, but all you see are blurays or dvds projected on a slightly bigger screen than my tv.

I was watching Stanley Kramer’s comedy It’s a Mad, Mad etc  World on bluray the other day. When it came out, it must have looked fantastic, on a super wide curved screen, a real immersive experience. Film makers rarely use film these days. J J Abrams does and Christopher Nolan, I believe, and that’s about it.

Linda Thorson

It’s amazing what you can find on the web.

This is a (terrible) clip from a Frankie Howerd tv show.

The lady in it is Linda Thorson, once in The Avengers as Tara King. Being very transparent.

If you don’t know, Howerd was a traditional British comedian.

Inferno

I had a great idea for a tv show for adults, a quiz/game show called Inferno. It sounds rather dramatic, but it’s not.

You have a small audience of maybe a hundred or so, mainly young folk. Someone is picked at random to come and answer ten straightforward general knowedge questions.

The first is worth £1, the second £2, the third £4 and so on, doubling each time so the tenth is worth £512. But the sum accumulates, so after two questions you have £3, after three you have £7 and so on, so getting the tenth wins you £1023. Great for maybe a couple of minutes work.
