Not COVID

I have a friend and former student who rings me two or three times a year for a chat about life and a bit of a gossip.

She is very religious and I am not, so we don’t talk about that, but it does seem to be a big part of her life and is mentioned in many topics of conversation.

When a vaccine for COVID was finally available, she said she would not have it because it contained ‘synthetic dead babies and monkeys’. OK…

Anyway, she said that she knew she and her family would not get COVID, definitely 100%, because she had spent nine hours just that day praying to God to protect them and he would do that. She was sure.

We spoke again maybe six months later. How had she been? Oh, very ill, collapsed on the floor, not able to breathe, managed to call an ambulance and was rushed into hospital.

They did tests, she said, and said it was COVID but I know it wasn’t because God would not let that happen. The tests said COVID but they were ‘wrong’. They treated her for COVID and she got better.

And how was the family? Mother had also been in hospital, also hadn’t had the jab, they said it was COVID but it wasn’t…

I just left it.
