A few weeks ago we were chatting. I said I was having the flu jab but was not eligible for a free COVID jab this year as the rules had changed.
Oh, she said, do you remember when I had COVID? I was so bad…
I just decided not to go there.
I was asked, since I had had all the available COVID jabs, had they had any effects? Yes, I said, I didn’t get COVID. that seemed a very valuable effect. Other than that, nothing.
Oh, she said, my uncle knows someone who had a COVID jab and now they are disabled.
We’re going down a rabbit hole here. Even if we believe these Chinese Whispers stories.
If you have two things, say A and B, and B follows A, it does not follow automatically that A causes B. The implication, of course, is that the jab caused the disability.
It’s hard to argue with people who spread misinformation and ‘facts’ like this. If you ask what evidence they have, they get defensive and aggressive. The response is something like ‘you can’t prove it isn’t…’. But it’s not down to me to prove it isn’t true. If you make a claim, it is up to you to provide evidence of its truth, and not just “lots of people said…”. We need actual facts. You know, true facts rather than the ones Trump and people provide.
Of course, it may have been true, just as it is definitely true that the COVID jab saved millions of lives across the world. Possibly including mine.
