We’ve mentioned Southend before.
If you want to see what a typical seaside town looks like, Southend is the easiest to get to (Liverpool Street or Fenchurch Street) even though it isn’t really the sea.
It does have fish and chips on the sea front, rock shops, the pier is the longest in the world and the train is fun, the Kursaal has a lot of history (it’s now a supermarket though they are trying to remove the whole building).
