Simon Jeffes son Arthur re-imagined PCO as Penguin Cafe (PC) with a new group of younger musicians (including members of Suede and Gorillaz), playing new material plus the best of the original PCO music written by his father. This included a one-off complete performance of Union Cafe at Union Chapel.
The ethos of the band is still the same. The instrumentation is very similar. It’s still head noddy foot tapping music.
It still comes over best in the ‘smaller’, intimate venues like Union Chapel. We saw them once after they had done three sold out nights there, and they were on top form.
There are some new albums. The best, perhaps, is The Red Book (2014).
