“Amadeus”

It’s one of many films featuring real people with some vague basis in truth but mostly made up for entertainment purposes. Passing it off as any kind of truth is not fair.

Another was “Stan & Ollie”. Yes, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy did exist (kind of, they were Arthur Jefferson and Norvell Hardy), yes, they did make films, they did come to the UK for a tour. But, the tour always was a big success, they were never at odds over solo films Hardy made, in fact Laurel encouraged it… and so on, the list of factual inaccuracies goes on.

Enough, no more ranting from me about films with real people that ignore the truth and pass off story as history. Like “Hidden Figures”, or “Maudie” or “The Danish Girl”… sorry.

So “Amadeus” is nice to watch, the music is great, but it’s not history.
